The Long Walk Home

“Valerie Wood is simply superb! She writes with such assurance, élan and confidence that readers will be gripped from the very first page. Deftly blending pathos, emotion, drama, romance and humour, The Long Walk Home is an exceptional Victorian saga from this talented storyteller whose novels rival Catherine Cookson’s finest works. Heartbreaking, engrossing and captivating from start to finish, The Long Walk Home is a spellbinding story you will not easily forget!” Julie Bonello. Beverley author tops book chart in Hull

Saturday, December 19, 2009, 06:30

A Beverley author is set to top the best seller chart in Hull this Christmas.

Val Wood's 15th novel, Rich Girl, Poor Girl, has already sold double the amount of its nearest rival, penned by American writer Stephanie Meyer, who has had two Hollywood blockbuster's made out of her Twilight series.

The figures, which have been released by Waterstones book store, in Jameson Street, city centre, also reveal Mrs Wood is outselling the likes of Jeremy Clarkson and comedian Peter Kay.The full version of this article can be found at www.thisishullandeastriding.co.uk

The Literary Project Interview

Valerie Wood is living proof of what writing competitions can do for those of us dreaming of publication. Her big break came when she won the Catherine Cookson Novel Prize (now sadly no longer running) as an unknown, unpublished writer. She has gone on to publish one new novel every years since her win in 1993, with a plan to “keep going on until I reach 90!” Read the full interview at www.theliteraryproject.blogspot.com
